[edit]Berry was born in Claremont, New Hampshire and graduated from the University of New Hampshire in with a degree in Recreation and Parks Administration. He did two years of active duty in the United States Army after being drafted in Berry spent a year and a half working in Germany as an army sergeant. After his military discharge, he became a sales manager in a small business selling stereo equipment until deciding in that he wanted to become an American football coach.

Doug Barry was born in Baltimore, raised in Lutherville in Baltimore County, and has been a Baltimore City resident since Other than 4 and a half years serving in the U.S. Army, he has lived in the area his entire life. With grandparents that lived near the border of Roland Park and Hampden, and another grandmother that lived in Remington and later Medfield, he has spent much of his life in the district from the day he was born.
After graduating from Towson State University with a B.S. in History, he entered the Army, and attended the prestigious Defense Language Institute at the Presidio of Monterey, California. He graduated with honors from the year-long Russian course, and was the honor graduate in the subsequent Military Intelligence training course. Doug served in Army Intelligence in both tactical and strategic assignments in Japan and Fort Hood, Texas, and participated in exercises in Texas, California and Germany.
After leaving the military, Doug entered the real estate field and has twenty-two years experience as an Associate Broker, instructor and trainer.
