    Thomas Matulessy, also known as Kapitan Pattimura, was an Ambonese soldier and Indonesian national hero. He joined the British army after they took control of the Maluku islands from the Dutch, but led a rebellion against the Dutch when control returned to them in 1816. After capturing a Dutch fortress, he was betrayed and captured, then hanged in 1817. Pattimura has since become a symbol of Maluku and Indonesian independence. Ki Hajar Dewantara was born in Yogyakarta in 1889. He came from a royal family and was active in social and political organizations that promoted unity in Indonesia.
