Growing up, I was always a big Lex Luger fan when he was working for World Championship Wrestling. This was likely because my favorite wrestler was Sting, and Luger was one of the few (also Robocop lol) that didn’t betray Sting in some way. I’ve never been a huge fan of body-builder type wrestlers since a lot of them can’t move around much and are injury prone, but Luger was different – he moved well, had exciting matches, and his finishing move, The Torture Rack, was awesome. What I did not know as a kid was that “The Total package” Lex Luger was struggling with a lot of demons (as many wrestlers of the time were) including rampant drug use, alcoholism, infidelity, and a blatant disregard for authority.
He was addicted to his own fame and felt invincible until it all crashed down around him.
